Being a fan of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," I've already got a not-altogether-sincere appreciation for the work of Rick Astley. So you can imagine my delight when, while using the Internet one day last week in a highly productive manner (I swear!), I stumbled across this curiosity:
This, of course, is an illustrated breakdown of the lyrical content of Astley's hit "Never Gonna Give You Up." But where did it come from? Whose brilliant idea was it to diagram a Rick Astley song? Are there others like it?
Turns out, yes. Many, many others. This is part of a growing Internet meme (ie, trend, viral happening, etc.) that involves the making of humorous pop culture-related graphs by people with what looks to be quite a bit of time on their hands.
Graphers make these and post them all over the place, such as here, and here.
Oh, Internet, is there any frivolous stone you leave unturned? Besides "Never Gonna Give You Up," one of my favorites is this diagram of Prince's "Kiss":
