Los Angeles - So what if there is a writer's strike and none of the "Desperate Housewives" stars are going to work at the moment? They can still find things to do out and about in Hollywood, especially when one of them has a feature film about to hit theaters. That's exactly why Felicity Huffman, Nicollette Sheridan, Brenda Strong, and Andrea Bowen got all dolled up on Tuesday night and headed for the Cinerama Dome/Arclight Theaters in Hollywood, to celebrate the premiere of Eva Longoria Parker's new film comedy "Over Her Dead Body."

LOS ANGELES - Hannah Montana mania has already conquered TV, the music industry and the touring world. Now it's set to take over the film industry — for one week.

On Friday, theaters nationwide will show "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," a 3-D film version of the sellout tour — and already, tickets for the film are in short supply. Clearly the "Hannah Montana" brand — which started as a Disney TV series but has branched out into multiplatinum albums and stage shows — hasn't reached saturation point.

Which is all good for the 15-year-old star behind the phenomenon, Miley Cyrus. In the past year, she's become a sensation that sells tabloids besides albums and tickets. Her fame would be hard for most adults to handle, but in a recent interview with The Associated Press, Miley seemed to have a good grasp on how to handle the spotlight.

AP: Why do a film version of the tour in 3-D?

Miley: It was mostly because of the tickets and there were so many people that didn't get to come to the show. This is like better than front row. You could reach out and feel like you can touch my hand you could see me right then. Right there, right in front of you, which is so fun. Also just to be able to see behind the scenes which I think is the most clever part of anything. Just getting to see what all goes into this. They can walk around knowing what real hard work it is. I mean I think I have the easiest job.

AP: The movie also features your tour partners, the Jonas Brothers What was it like to perform with them?

Miley: With the Jonases our music is similar but it's definitely not exact. There is a different vibe with the Hannah vibe and the Miley vibe. It's just so many different tastes of music that to have it all in one show it's just cool to introduce the kids to.

AP: Why do you think the Hannah Montana craze exploded last year?

Miley: The kids can relate — like once again with the 3-D movie, it will be even better. They don't even know what they have coming when they get to see it. Just that Hannah Montana and the show are so relatable that not only the celebrity part of it but just getting to see the normal girl underneath it all is really incredible.

AP: Do you think you've been able to create your own identity outside of your famous character?

Miley: This tour was a really good way of doing that. Just kind of breaking out and having my music and get to have not only doing press stuff all the time and being like, 'Miley Miley Miley.' You get to go out in front of 20,000 people every night and show who you really are. I think that's one of the best parts.

AP: Your tour was one of the highest-grossing tours, right up there with the Police and Justin Timberlake. What do you think about that?

Miley: Sometimes, 'It's like wow, I really have to be good. Especially when you hear what people are doing for tickets. It's like this is their one chance to see the show and it's the one night I'm going to be here so it has to be perfect.'

AP: One little girl's mother even had her write a false story claiming her dad was killed in the Iraq war to win tickets to the concert. What was your reaction to that?

Miley: There is so much that has been going on just with everyone. There has been some really bad things happen, there's been some really amazing things happen. Like I remember I was watching CNN today and there was this little girl that couldn't afford to have her surgery. She took her tickets and put a bid for them and now can have her surgery. There has been amazing stories that have been going on with everyone so it's really incredible.

AP: There was a recent controversy involving the brief use of a body double for you onstage. Can you explain why one was used at all?

Miley: It wasn't because I didn't want to sing or because I didn't want to dance ... it was because of time. I usually have an hour and a half to go from Hannah to Miley and I was doing this in one minute 50 seconds. So I needed at least three minutes to go and at least get a little drink of water and like chill for a second. So when I leave the stage the vocals are done. Like I'm done singing. So it wasn't like my vocals were still playing, it was the Jonases who were still singing. So it was really no need for me to be on the stage anyways.

AP: Do the problems of other young stars, like Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy, put more pressure on you to set a better example for kids?

Miley: It does but I mean those persons don't have anything to do with me either. So it's like you just have your own heart and you have your own soul to kind of help you through life.

AP: Do you ever wish that you could just be a regular 15-year-old instead of a teen phenom?

Miley: I do sometimes but then again it definitely is fun and it's been really nice because having my uncle as like my bodyguard and my mom with me and my dad, working with him. My family wants the best for me so they try to find a way so that I can still go out and hang with my friends and also have a normal life of my own.

NEW YORK - Madonna is the richest woman in music.

The 49-year-old entertainer leads Forbes.com's list of the top 20 "Cash Queens of Music," earning $72 million between June 2006 and June 2007.

The pop star's "Confessions" world tour pulled in $260 million, Forbes said. She also made money from album sales, her fashion line with H&M and a deal with NBC to broadcast her concert performance at London's Wembley Stadium.

Forbes.com said it compiled the list by examining concert grosses, merchandising revenue, album sales and other revenue from clothing lines, fragrance deals and endorsements.

Barbra Streisand is No. 2 with $60 million, thanks to her comeback tour of North America and Europe.

Celine Dion ranks third with $45 million, largely from her successful "A New Day" show in Las Vegas, which she wrapped up in December after a five-year engagement at Caesars Palace.

Shakira is fourth with $38 million, followed by Beyonce ($27 million), Gwen Stefani ($26 million), Christina Aguilera ($20 million), Faith Hill ($19 million), the Dixie Chicks ($18 million) and Mariah Carey ($13 million).

Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne and Martina McBride each banked $12 million.

Britney Spears ranked 14th on the list, earning $8 million from music royalties and sales of her fragrances with Elizabeth Arden.

Spears is followed by Carrie Underwood and Nelly Furtado ($7 million each); Fergie, Jennifer Lopez and Sheryl Crow ($6 million each); and Norah Jones ($5.5 million).

Jessica Alba Visits MTV’s TRL

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba

Note to movie studios - if you want an actress who will tirelessly promote your films, regardless of pregnancy, Jessica Alba is your woman.

The “Good Luck Chuck” actress was spotted doing promotion for her new gig “The Eye” yesterday at MTV Studios during the taping of Total Request Live.

It’s the latest in a long line of promotional stops for the Dark Angel. Earlier this week she stopped by David Letterman’s Late Show, as well as The Today Show and Live With Regis and Kelly.

And as always, Jess looked fabulous during her TRL appearance, sporting an off-the-shoulder dark knee-length dress with matching stockings.

Paris Hilton

Former “Simple Life” starlet
Paris Hilton was spotted out and about in New York City yesterday, but it wasn’t all fun and games for the heiress.

It turns out she was in town to do a little promotion for her upcoming film “The Hottie and the Nottie,” set to release February 8th.

The first stop on the “House of Wax” actress’ agenda was MTV’s Total Request Live, where she showed up wearing a fabulous blue-with-gold-polka dotted dress.

After her TRL gig, Paris headed over to the Ed Sullivan Theater for an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. And as you may have guessed, with the new show came a new dress.

The “Stars are Blind” singer paraded around the outside of the theater with a dozen roses, wearing an off-the-shoulder yellow dress and a pair of cute black and white shoes.
And speaking of shoes, Paris has a new line of footwear out on the market. She told press, “I have always loved shoes, and after working on my recently launched sportswear and fragrance lines, this seemed like a natural next step. Paris Hilton Footwear is perfect for the fashion-forward young woman who wants to look and feel great from head-to-toe, without spending a fortune.”

Jessica Simpson

When you’re in demand on both the East and West Coasts, sometimes a red-eye flight is the only option. Jessica Simpson was spotted leaving LAX last night, and the photogs were eagerly awaiting her early-morning arrival at JFK this morning.

The “Public Affair” singer showed up in the Big Apple along with her cute and cuddly dog peeking out of its Louis Vuitton doggie bag.

Jess sported a long grey wool coat, jeans, and a Dallas Cowboys hat as she was escorted through the airport while constantly chatting on her cell phone.

We’re just glad to see her looking a little more sober than the last time we saw her. Yesterday, the Gossip Girls reported on Simpson’s wild night out at the Key Club, where she had a bit too much to drink and had to be helped to her car.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Crash," the racially charged drama that won the Oscar for best picture of 2005, is coming to the small screen later this year as a TV series for the Starz network, the pay cable channel said on Monday.

The film's director, co-writer and producer, Paul Haggis, will lead the show's creative team as executive producer along with actor Don Cheadle, who starred in and shared a producer credit on the movie.

Starz programming executive Stephan Shelanski said there is a "strong possibility" that Cheadle will reprise his film role as a police detective for the "Crash" TV series, which he said would basically pick up where the film left off.

The series will begin shooting this spring and is expected to premiere as early as August 2008, Shelanski said. The premium cable channel, owned by John Malone's Liberty Media Corp, has ordered 13 one-hour episodes to start.

NEW YORK - Barbara Walters says she has been contacted by Britney Spears' manager and "very good friend," Sam Lutfi, who says the pop singer has seen a psychiatrist.

Lutfi told her the 26-year-old pop singer "is suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable," Walters said Monday on ABC's "The View."

"He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment," said Walters, a co-host on the ABC daytime talk show.

"She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping, and also she is in touch with her mother — 'cause we had heard she wasn't — and her mother has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is going to do," Walters said.

Lutfi has been staying with Spears constantly, "and he got in touch with us," Walters said. "I can't vouch for this, he seemed to be very knowledgeable and he certainly was very nice."

Spears' attorney, Sorrell Trope, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Monday. Spears' spokeswoman at Jive Records, Gina Orr, didn't immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

Spears has spiraled downward since filing for divorce from Kevin Federline in November 2006. Her bizarre public antics include shaving her head bald, attacking a car with an umbrella and bringing along a paparazzo pal on trips to a Los Angeles courthouse in her custody case with Federline.

The singer was taken to a Los Angeles hospital by paramedics earlier this month after police were called to her home because of a dispute involving her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. She has lost custody and visitation rights with the boys.

Spears reportedly has had a rocky relationship with her mother, Lynne Spears, whose book about raising her family in the spotlight was put on indefinite hold last month after younger daughter, Jamie Lynn, 16, announced that she is pregnant.

LOS ANGELES - At least one Jamie Lynn Spears mystery is over.

The younger Spears sister's popular TV character is back at her fictional California boarding school, although the pregnant 16-year-old star of the children's show "Zoey 101" is continuing to stay out of the limelight herself.

"Zoey 101" concluded its third season last month, shortly before Spears, younger sister of Britney Spears, announced she was pregnant with her teenage boyfriend's child. The show has continued to air in repeats since then, with little fanfare from the network, leading to speculation that its fourth season might be shelved.

"The new season is under way. It premiered last night," Nickelodeon spokeswoman Marianne Romano told The Associated Press on Monday.

Filming of the show's fourth season, which was planned to be its last even before Spears became pregnant, was completed last summer.

The third season ended with a cliffhanger episode in which Spears' Zoey Brooks moves to England with her parents, only to learn that her longtime school friend Chase is in love with her.

The new season begins with another plot twist in which Chase (played by Errol Flynn's grandson Sean Flynn) persuades his family to send him to school in England, learning afterward that Zoey has returned and professed her love for him.

Spears, who once helped promote the show heavily, has kept a low profile since announcing that she is pregnant, and that Casey Aldridge is the father.

"She is on hiatus," her publicist, Holly Shakoor, said Monday.

Hollywood's stylish stars got right back to their red carpet routines Sunday night, even if they'd been a bit out of practice. Glamorous gowns ƒƒ‚‚ especially strapless and metallic ones ƒƒ‚‚ dominated the fashion show that preceded the Screen Actor Guild awards.

Debra Messing literally sparkled in a beaded bronze Oscar de la Renta gown with a jeweled halter neck, and Teri Hatcher wore an oyster-colored Badgley Mischka gown with antique crystal embroidery.

Christina Applegate wore a glittering, V-neck dress covered in silver sequins by Elie Saab. "We don't know if we get to wear our dresses anywhere else," she said, referring to the writers strike that has shut down most award shows.

The Golden Globes red carpet was a victim of the strike earlier this month, so the SAGs, which normally are a less publicized event, received lots of attention and actresses pulled out dresses by top-tier designers.

"In times of doldrums, bring on the glitz," said Tom Julian, the fashion analyst for Oscar.com.

Cate Blanchett embraced her pregnant figure in a navy strapless gown by Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga, and Ellen Pompeo said she picked her sculpted silver gown by Nina Ricci from an issue of Vogue magazine.

But there also were some new fashion names making an impression on the carpet, including Juliana Cairone, who dressed Angelina Jolie. The loose shape of Jolie's mahogany-colored gown with an abstract version of the Hermes horse print from Cairone's one-of-a-kind Rare Vintage collection was sure to fuel talk that the star is pregnant again.

Angel Sanchez put Sara Ramirez in a purple strapless gown with a train. "I like the way the light bounces off the material. I've never really worn purple before except for the Emmys last year," Ramirez said.

Vanessa Williams told E! that her oldest daughter picked her bright yellow Escada gown with a black waistband, and Kate Beckinsale said she wore a tiered strapless gown in buttercup yellow to bring a little sunshine to a particularly dreary day in Los Angeles.

Rebecca Gayheart wore a bold red strapless gown by Marchesa that was made more delicate with tulle around the bustline. Sandra Oh wore a couture version of a traditional Korean dress that featured a hot pink bow as the bodice and a black ballskirt.

In the blue camp were Nikki Blonsky and Marcia Cross, who wore a turquoise gown with a floral jewel at the bustline. She took no credit for her striking look: "I just wear what my stylist tells me and walk out the door."

Jamie Lynn Sigler gave a preview of a hot spring style: colorblocking. She paired a cream-colored body suit with a bright blue skirt by Calvin Klein.

Jane Krakowski took a risk in a green Catherine Malandrino gown with a halter neckline decorated in chunky green and yellow beads. The jury is still out on the look.

Classic black dresses had their fans, too, with Nicolette Sheridan in Marchesa representing the trend particularly well. Ellen Page, 20, looked lovely and age-appropriate in a black cocktail-length dress by Zac Posen with a cowl neck. Tina Fey also went with a shorter length in a one-shoulder dress by Alberta Ferretti.

Leading the simple and stunning category were Kyra Sedgwick, in a strapless electric blue dress by L'Wren Scott, and Michelle Pfeiffer in form-fitting bronze dress.

Marion Cotillard was among the many in shades of gray. Her Nina Ricci gown had a corset-style bodice, while America Ferrera chose a darker gray Monique Lhuillier dress with delicate lace covering one shoulder.

Most of the actresses took the weather into consideration in planning their hairstyles, with many favoring loose looks that wouldn't be as affected by a little drizzle.

Harry Josh, the creative consultant for John Frieda and Pompeo's hairstylist, said she wanted to be more hip than old Hollywood. "She wanted it to be cool and runway," Josh said of her messy side bun, "but the weather was an issue."

Eva Longoria went the opposite route, conjuring up a sexy retro look in beaded Naeem Khan dress with a cowl front and deeper cowl back that she complemented with a curly updo.

A trend that carried through the night were statement earrings, including Hatcher's darkened diamond flower earrings by Neil Lane and Blanchett's natural jade and diamond drop earrings.

Ryan Gosling might have worn the accessory that most will remember, though: a black ribbon on his lapel that he said was to honor the memory of fellow actor Heath Ledger, who was found dead last week in New York.
