TOKYO (AFP) - Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, who is pregnant with her first biological child, said Wednesday she hoped to make more movies aimed at teenagers.
"A lot of the films that I have made are adult films," Kidman told a news conference in Tokyo to promote the Japanese premiere of "The Golden Compass."
"I think once you have children," she said, "occasionally you want to make films that they can take their friends to."
Her goal, she said, would be to perform in movies that appeal to both boys and girls of around 15 years old.
"It's fun. It requires different skills," the Australian added.
Kidman, 40, is pregnant with her first biological child with husband Keith Urban, a country singer. She has two adopted children with her former husband, actor Tom Cruise.
Kidman won a best actress Oscar in 2002 for "The Hours" in which she portrayed English novelist Virginia Woolf. She was also nominated for an Academy Award the previous year for her role in the musical "Moulin Rouge."
Her more complicated roles have included Stanley Kubrick's sexually charged thriller "Eyes Wide Shut" and Lars von Trier's minimalist "Dogville."
"The Golden Compass" tells the story of an orphan who sets off on a journey with a magical compass of gold to save her best friend.
The movie is an adaptation of "The Northern Lights," the first book in British author Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" fantasy trilogy.
