MIAMI - Paris Hilton didn't do enough pledging for a 2006 sorority comedy, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc. filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Miami, alleging the 27-year-old model-actress-heiress owes $75,000 in damages for not fulfilling promotional obligations.

Hilton entered into an agreement in 2004 for the production and distribution of the movie "National Lampoon's Pledge This!," according to the lawsuit. Hilton starred in the film and received credit as an executive producer.

The Miami-based concern said it paid Hilton and her company, Paris Hilton Entertainment Inc., $1 million for "Hilton's acting services" and for "reasonable promotion and publicity" for the movie, which was released in 2006 and featured Hilton as the president of an exclusive sorority.

While most famous for her tabloid exploits and reality TV series "The Simple Life," Hilton has appeared in the films "Bottoms Up," "The Hottie & the Nottie" and "House of Wax."

She's slated to next appear in the movie musical "Repo! The Genetic Opera" and the tentatively titled MTV reality series "Paris Hilton's My New BFF."

Phone calls and e-mails to Hilton's manager, Jason Moore, were not immediately returned Tuesday.

Katie Holmes chops the bob down to a pixie

NEW YORK (AP) — Katie Holmes just keeps taking it off. Mrs. Tom Cruise, who made a huge hairstyle splash when she helped fuel Hollywood's bob craze late last year, has been seen out and about in New York with a new pixie cut. Photos popping up on the Internet show Holmes sporting a shaggier version of the short 'do, with long bangs and a tapered neck.

The style was popular in the late '80s and early '90s, according to celebrity hairstylist Porsche Waldo, adding that Rihanna has a similar cut that is more "spiky" and "punklike."

Last year, Holmes sheared off her long locks to create a sleek bob that some compared to the look popularized by Victoria Beckham, Holmes' friend. Internet critics weighed in: Some loved it, others hated it, sniping that Holmes looked like her then 1-year-old daughter Suri.

Stylists are greeting the new 'do with mixed reviews.

"I'm personally not crazy about the look on anyone," says celebrity stylist and beauty expert Billy Lowe, adding that the cut with its soft neckline reminds him of a wig. "I liked her much better in the bob. I thought it was really sophisticated, very chic and very trendy."

Stacy London, co-host of TLC's "What Not to Wear," raved about the cut, saying it fit her face and her fashion persona much better.

"This whole sort of fashion evolution since becoming Mrs. Tom Cruise, I think it has taken her time to find her sea-legs," says London. "This haircut is clearly a step in the right direction."

The 29-year-old Holmes, who played Joey Potter on "Dawson's Creek" from 1998 to 2003, is in New York preparing to star in a revival of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons," which goes into previews Sept. 18.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop singer Jewel eloped with her rodeo-star boyfriend in the Bahamas on Thursday, People magazine reported. The 34-year-old singer married Ty Murray, 38, during a private ceremony, the magazine said, quoting Jewel's publicist.

Jewel said on her Web site on Wednesday that she and Murray were heading to the Caribbean islands for six days with two friends.

The pair, who live on a ranch in Texas, had been together for more than a decade. Jewel, whose last name is Kilcher, achieved fame in the mid-1990s with such pop-folk tunes as "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "Foolish Games." She recently released a country album and served as a judge on the TV talent show "Nashville Star."

Murray is a legend on the rodeo circuit, winning the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association's All-Around world championship title a record seven times.

Varsha Sabhnani sentenced -11 Years in prison

It’s 11 years in prison for a New York millionaire who inflicted years of abuse on her two enslaved Indonesian housekeepers at her Long Island mansion.

Varsha Sabhnani (sahb-NAH’-nee) was convicted with her husband in December of forced labor, conspiracy, involuntary servitude and harboring aliens. Her husband will be sentenced tomorrow.

The victims testified that they were beaten with brooms and umbrellas, slashed with knives, and forced to climb stairs and take freezing showers as punishment.

Their slavery ended in May of last year, when 1 of the women fled early on Mother’s Day and wandered into a Dunkin’ Donuts wearing nothing but rags. Employees called police.

The women said they were tortured and beaten for sleeping late or stealing food from trash bins because they were poorly fed. Both women also said they were forced to sleep on mats in the kitchen. The maids’ relatives in Indonesia were paid about $100 a month for their work, but the maids themselves were not paid.

The organization will distribute the donation, made through the couple's Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to four organizations working on behalf of children who have lost parents, homes and schools in Iraq. Children in the U.S. who have lost parents in the conflict will also benefit.

"These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal," said Jolie in a written statement from Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which she co-chairs.

"We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations," Pitt added in the statement.

LONDON - Amy Winehouse fainted Monday at her north London home and was hospitalized, her spokesman said.

Winehouse lost consciousness but an assistant caught her before she hit the ground, spokesman Chris Goodman said.

"She quickly recovered and her father, Mitch, took her to hospital as a precaution," Goodman said in a statement.

Winehouse had spent the afternoon signing autographs for Canadian fans who were standing outside her house. She collapsed after they left.

Goodman said doctors are unsure what caused the collapse and the 24-year-old singer was undergoing tests.

She may stay in the hospital overnight as a precaution, he said.

Winehouse's career has prospered despite wild nights, missed concerts and stints in drug rehab. The Sunday Times newspaper's annual Rich List has estimated her wealth at $20 million.

FIRST LOOK: Jenna Bush Wedding Photos! | Jenna Bush

It's official: Jenna Welch Bush wed Henry Chase Hager Saturday – making her the first daughter of a sitting United States president to marry in 16 years.

The pair exchanged vows just before sundown in a lakeside ceremony threatened by a tornado watch at President Bush's secluded 1,600-acre Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, presided over the "I do's" before a 4-foot limestone cross and altar that were the president's idea for the occasion and will stand as a permanent landmark on the Bushes' property.

The Wedding Dress

Jenna, 26, in an embroidered organza Oscar de la Renta gown, was attended by twin sister Barbara, the maid of honor, who wore a dress of moonstone blue shimmer with a silver sash. De la Renta, a close friend of the family, also designed First Lady Laura Bush's deep turquoise "mother-of-the-bride" gown.

White House spokeswoman Sally McDonough said the colors – from the dresses to the décor – were selected to mirror the "very natural" colors of the central Texas landscape: the blues of the lake where Bush fishes for bass, the greens of Mrs. Bush's prized buffalo grass (native grass that she restored to the property) and the lavendar, yellow and blue of the wildflowers.

A-Rod is a Wimp-Wife says

Last month Yankees' Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia had their second daughter, Ella Alexander, weighing at 7 pounds and 2 ounces. But A-Rod's wife says that he's not very helpful when it comes to the labor and giving birth part. In an upcoming episode of YES Network's "YESterdays", Cynthia said that Alex was a shell of himself when their first daughter, Natasha Alexander, was born.

"The one nurse had a cold cloth on his head. The other nurse had the blood pressure on his arm. And my mother was like rubbing his back. And he is passed out on a couch. And I am there, in the middle of labor," Cynthia Rodriguez told the TV show, which airs Wednesday night. "And really, I am not being paid much attention to besides the doctor and a couple of nurses. And he is there moaning. In between pushing, I am going, 'Honey, are you OK?' and 'Are you breathing? Are you OK?'"

“Criminals” can “carry assault weapons, it’s not a violation of federal law…”

The city plans to buy “semiautomatic assault rifles,” specifically “M4 carbines.” (I guess that could be right if they bought Bushmaster uppers).

Bears select running back Forte in second round

By Vaughn McClure, 6:50 p.m.

With their second-round pick -- No. 44 overall -- the Bears selected running back Matt Forte from Tulane. He is a 6-foot-1, 217 pound back with 4.47 speed in the 40 yard dash.

Picking Forte makes sense for the Bears, who wanted to bring in competition for Cedric Benson. With Benson slowly recovering from a broken leg, Forte might work his way into serious playing time.

The question is, what happens to Garrett Wolfe?

The Bears picked left tackle Chris Williams with their first pick -- No. 14 overall.

NEW YORK (AP) -- A nude photo of France's first lady was auctioned for $91,000, about 30 times more than anticipated, the Christie's auction house said.

The image was taken by photographer Michel Comte in 1993, when Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was one of the world's most sought-after models.

The 13-by-10-inch (33-by-25-centimeter) photo was bought Thursday by an anonymous bidder on behalf of a collector, Christie's said.

It was part of a selection of photographs auctioned by collector Gert Elfering that also included nude photos of models Lauren Hutton, Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss. The money from the sale of the Bruni-Sarkozy photo will go to the Swiss charity Sodis, which provides clean drinking water to developing nations, Christie's said.

A late-night call to French President Nicolas Sarkozy's office was not immediately returned Thursday. The office previously declined to comment on the sale, saying it concerned the leader's private life.

The photo had been expected fetch $3,000 to $4,000 at the auction, Christie's said.

Sarkozy divorced his second wife in October and married the Italian-born former model, now a successful singer, in February after a quick courtship. Bruni-Sarkozy made her first state visit as France's first lady in late March with a two-day trip to Britain, where she and her husband attended a lavish banquet held by Queen Elizabeth II.
