news..

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony became the parents of twins early on Friday in a New York-area hospital, according to People magazine, which reportedly paid upward of $6 million for the photo rights

he boy and girl, delivered in a Long Island, New York, hospital, were the first for the 38-year-old actress and singer, whose efforts to become pregnant have filled tabloid pages in the past few years. Anthony, a 39-year-old salsa singer, has a daughter and two sons from two previous relationships.

Lopez did not confirm her much-rumored pregnancy until early November, when she announced the news to a Miami audience while on a concert tour with her husband.

The trade publication Advertising Age reported earlier this week that People magazine was poised to pay the couple between $4 million and $6 million for exclusive U.S. rights to the first photos of the twins.

NEW YORK - Barbara Walters says she has been contacted by Britney Spears' manager and "very good friend," Sam Lutfi, who says the pop singer has seen a psychiatrist.

Lutfi told her the 26-year-old pop singer "is suffering from what he describes as mental issues which are treatable," Walters said Monday on ABC's "The View."

"He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment," said Walters, a co-host on the ABC daytime talk show.

"She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping, and also she is in touch with her mother — 'cause we had heard she wasn't — and her mother has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is going to do," Walters said.

Lutfi has been staying with Spears constantly, "and he got in touch with us," Walters said. "I can't vouch for this, he seemed to be very knowledgeable and he certainly was very nice."

Spears' attorney, Sorrell Trope, didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Monday. Spears' spokeswoman at Jive Records, Gina Orr, didn't immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

Spears has spiraled downward since filing for divorce from Kevin Federline in November 2006. Her bizarre public antics include shaving her head bald, attacking a car with an umbrella and bringing along a paparazzo pal on trips to a Los Angeles courthouse in her custody case with Federline.

The singer was taken to a Los Angeles hospital by paramedics earlier this month after police were called to her home because of a dispute involving her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1. She has lost custody and visitation rights with the boys.

Spears reportedly has had a rocky relationship with her mother, Lynne Spears, whose book about raising her family in the spotlight was put on indefinite hold last month after younger daughter, Jamie Lynn, 16, announced that she is pregnant.

Paris Hilton: Britney's a 'great mother'

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Paris Hilton is rooting for Britney Spears.

"I wish the best for her and I just wish everyone would leave her alone so she could live her life," the 26-year-old hotel heiress-actress tells E! News. "She's a great mother and a great girl and I really care about her."

In an interview that was to air Tuesday night, Hilton says: "She's a very sweet girl and I love her to death."

Hilton and Spears were nearly inseparable following the pop star's split from ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The tabloid magnets were photographed partying, shopping and driving in a car with Lindsay Lohan in the weeks after Spears filed for divorce from Federline in November 2006. But their whirlwind public friendship seemed to fizzle out after Spears' fans complained that Hilton was a negative influence.

Hilton served a 23-day jail sentence in Los Angeles last June for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless-driving case. She vowed to focus on philanthropy afterward.

Meanwhile, Spears, 26, continued to unravel in the public eye after a rough year in which she shaved her head, checked in and out of rehab and attacked a car with an umbrella.

She was taken to a Los Angeles hospital by paramedics earlier this month after police were called to her home because of a dispute involving her two sons. A court commissioner decided to keep in effect an order suspending Spears' right to visit Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2.

Britney Stands By Her Man

We wonder if the former paparazzo minds having flashbulbs and photographers in his face 24/7. Hopefully he's getting a dose of his own medicine.

Who's actually the Best ?

Dodi not 'the one' for Diana, who yearned for ex, inquest hears..// is it true ??

is it true ??

LONDON (AFP) - Princess Diana did not consider Dodi Fayed as "the one" she would marry, and was still yearning for a former boyfriend she had planned to wed, her former butler said Monday.

Paul Burrell told the inquest into her death that Diana had wanted to marry Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan, with whom she split shortly before her brief relationship with Fayed ended in tragedy in a car crash in August 1997.

In eagerly-awaited testimony, Burrell said Diana's relationship with Fayed was "exciting" for the princess, who had divorced from Prince Charles in 1996.

"It was very fresh, new and exciting," he told the High Court in London, packed for one of the most high-profile witnesses since the six-month inquest into the deaths of Diana and Fayed opened in October.

But asked by lawyer Ian Burnett: "By that stage had you any sense from the princess that... to use a hackneyed phrase that has appeared in so many media reports, Dodi was 'the one'?" he replied: "No, I didn't have that impression."

Fayed and driver Henri Paul were killed instantly in the Paris car crash, while Diana died from internal injuries a few hours later.

Fayed's father Mohammed Al Fayed, the owner of plush London department store Harrods, claims they were killed by a British establishment conspiracy to prevent Diana marrying a Muslim and having his child.

Burrell also denied that a ring Fayed bought shortly before their doomed last evening together signified there were wedding plans. "It wasn't an engagement ring, it was a friendship band," he said.

The former butler said Diana had been much more serious about Khan.

"The princess seriously contemplated marriage with Khan. She asked me if it was possible to arrange a private marriage between them. Plans were being made in Kensington Palace for Hasnat to have his own rooms," he said.

Their relationship ended in mid-July 1997, and she headed off for a holiday with Fayed in the south of France. But "the princess was still burning a candle for Doctor Khan," said Burrell.

Rosa Monckton, a close friend of Diana's, suggested that the princess had been "deeply upset and hurt" when Khan broke off the relationship they had tried hard to keep secret in mid-1997.

"She was very much in love with him... She hoped that they would be able to have a future together... She wanted to marry him," she testified last month.

There has been speculation that Khan, who began a two-year romance with the princess in 1995, would give evidence either in person or via videolink to the inquest in London, which is seeking to determine exactly how and why Diana died.

Khan, 48 -- reported to have been nicknamed "Mister Wonderful" by the princess -- said at the weekend that he did not plan to give evidence.

"I will act on my lawyer's advice. I will do exactly what the law requires. If the lawyers told me I had to go, I would go, definitely. I don't have anything to add," he told The Mail on Sunday newspaper from his home in Pakistan.

Burrell said that if an announcement had been planned - as Fayed's father claims - he believes Diana would have put arrangements in place.
